Gloria (and her daughter, local poet Mimi Plevin-Foust) will read some of Gloria’s touching, observant, and humorous short essays that are paired with her paintings throughout the book. Each essay offers insight into Plevin’s process for creating specific works along with reflections on art; family; growing up in West Virginia; and her love of flowers, nature, and the Chautauqua countryside.

Gloria Plevin is an artist and essayist whose paintings and prints can be found in major museums (including the Cleveland Museum of Art) and numerous other public and private collections. For 18 years, she owned and directed the Gloria Plevin Gallery in Chautauqua, NY which showcased Cleveland and Chautauqua-area artists and was listed as a ‘Must-See’ in The 100 Best Small Art Towns in America (John Villani, 1996).
